Grand Canyon University!  One of Arizona’s leading institutions of higher learning.  Located in the Valley of Sun in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona, GCU is a regionally accredited, private, nondenominational Christian University. 

The College of Engineering & Technology at Grand Canyon University is seeking a passionate and experienced faculty member to teach and guide students in undergraduate engineering capstone project courses. This full-time, 9-month position focuses on equipping students with the skills necessary to succeed in their profession and offers the opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of engineering and technology programs at GCU. The ideal candidate will provide leadership in engineering education, mentor students, and collaborate with faculty, staff, and industry partners.

As a Full-Time Faculty member, you will be empowering students with vital skills, inspiring dynamic classroom discussions, evaluating their growth, and nurturing them into exceptional leaders in their chosen professions.

This Engineering Capstone faculty role is located on our main campus in Phoenix, AZ.

What you will do:

  • Teaching undergraduate engineering capstone project courses and other related courses

  • Holding consistent office hours and capstone lab times

  • Staying current on topics and practices related to the discipline

  • Assisting administration in driving curriculum design & development

  • Working with leadership on strategic planning initiatives advancing engineering education

  • Assisting the University in building a solid foundation for growth of engineering programs

  • Mentoring undergraduate students

  • Maintaining relationships with industry to support internships, project collaborations, industrial mentoring and Capstone projects

  • Actively supporting college/university mission and initiatives

  • Actively participating on college and/or university committees

  • Providing leadership to adjunct faculty

  • Active engaging in professional development activities

  • Maintaining compliance with all college and University policies

  • Other duties as assigned

What you need:

  • Master’s degree in engineering from a regionally accredited institution

  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience or higher education teaching experience. An equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education may be substituted. 

  • Strong project management skills are required for this role for managing the projects as well as teaching the project management skills in the classroom.

  • Ability to work "hands on" with engineering instrumentation and devices.

  • Working knowledge of Labview, a circuit simulator such as Spice or Multisim, and mathematical software such as MATLAB or equivalent.

  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks

  • Ability to program in a high-level, general-purpose computer languages such as C/C++ and Python.

  • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of values-based education from a Christian perspective.

  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Bonus Points:

  • Doctoral degree in engineering from a regionally accredited institution.  

  • 3-5 years of industry experience and computer engineering teaching experience

  • Familiarity with higher education, curriculum planning, best teaching and administrative practices; and a record of excellence in teaching.

  • Understanding of the various methods of adult learning
